Tips for Taking and Sending Pictures
Picture Content

We recommend the following cameras and accessories for taking dermatology images. The Canon Powershot range of cameras are very good with excellent macros (eg. the A590IS or its replacement) You can obtain a lens adaptor and step down rings that allow a Heine or Dermlite dermatoscope head to be fitted so that you can take dermatoscopic images. The Sony cybershot range are also good and have a similar range of attachments for dermatoscopy.

Take a distance view to localise the rash and then turn on the camera macro and take some close up images of typical lesions. Make sure the images are in focus!
