Tips for Taking and Sending Pictures
Picture Content

Good pictures are essential for an accurate diagnosis, however some pictures may be larger than necessary. A 640x480 pixel image with a file size of 500kbs is adequate. Make sure you save it as a jpeg as this gives the best compression and reduces the file sizes on our server.

If you are using a digital camera, it should offer different pixel resolutions. Select 640x480. You may select a higher resolution as long as the file size is less than 500kbs. Older digital cameras may need to be set at a higher pixel resolution for better quality.

Reducing the resolution or cropping the image will help to lower the file size. Shareware image resizing software is available free with discs that come with certain computer magazines, such as Internet.au Magazine, or on the net:
ACDSee | VuePrint | EZ-Viewer

Three pictures should be adequate for any rash. The first one should give an overview of the distribution of the rash, the second should give a close up view of the main lesions, and the third, if necessary, can be a macro of the basic lesion or of the edge of the lesion. If I cannot diagnose it from three photos, I doubt if more would help.
